It was produced on March 5, 2026, the second day of the spring harvest of that year. The first day of harvest was not used due to rainy conditions, but the next day brought an extremely high-quality crop. A colder winter with a steady amount of rainfall slowed down the growth of the plants, resulting in tender, juicy leaves ideal for premium Pre-Qingming green tea.
The classic representative of Taiwanese green tea returns in its juicy, spring 2026 version. It is obtained from very fine picking of small, young buds and shoots, and its freshness and liveliness will easily drive away the last traces of winter and awaken a real spring feeling. All exclusive lots selected by the best growers from higher altitudes have been tested to meet strict EU standards for pesticide residues.
Although Taiwan is best known for its oolong teas, this green tea occupies a special place as one of the classic representatives of the Taiwanese tradition. Its history is linked to a period when Western trading houses sought out Chinese styles of tea from more accessible areas around Taipei, at a time when trade with the mainland was hampered by wars and political turmoil. Although it shares historical roots with the famous Bi Luo Chun tea from northern China, today’s Taiwanese version has developed its own, recognizable character.
This Premium selection is produced from very young leaves of the Qing Xin Gan Zhi cultivar, harvested on the hills south of Taipei. The tea is processed by a family with a long tradition in Sanxia district, which cooperates with almost a hundred small growers from the surrounding hilly areas. Over the years, those who consistently bring in the highest quality leaves – most often from gardens at higher altitudes – have been carefully recognized, and it is these leaves that are used for seasonal lots like this one.
